I don’t know how many times in my life I had heard, “Jesus is the reason for the season” and thought “can’t we come up with a better Christian Christmas slogan than that?” But, at that moment those words became etched into my soul.
Christmas has tremendously lost its meaning over the years. It has become all about presents and receiving, especially for younger children. … The whole idea of Christmas has nothing to do with its true meaning. Many children probably don’t even know that we celebrate it because it’s Jesus’s birthday.
Jesus is the reason for the season because he brings hope to both bleak and bustling lives, for those of us in the darkness and those who’ve simply forgotten to slow down and enjoy the presence and love of our Savior.
