In looking for a unique way to display my bourbon collection, I wasn’t able to find anything that suited my taste, so I built one. Using reclaimed bourbon barrels from local breweries, each shelf has it’s own character and feel, and is sealed with polyurethane.
I clean all the tops then sand them just enough to smooth them out. I want my tops to be rustic but we’ll finished. I then seal them with three coats of lacquer. The shelf part is made from part of another top. I clean all the rust off, then seal it with 3 coats of lacquer. These bands may be dented or bent. I do straighten them out as much as I can but they are reclaimed.Display your bourbon or whiskey collection on this shelf made from whisky bourbon barrel heads, staves and the metal bands used to secure the bourbon barrels. The shelf is finished in polyurethane to accent the beauty of the barrel oak. The shelf will hold approximately 5 bottles depending on how they’re placed.
These beautiful shelves are easy to hang with a pre mounted french cleat. All you have to do is hang the other half of the french cleat on the wall and slip your new shelf into place.
